Verna "Delores" Claypool, 82, of Danville IL. stepped into heaven on Sunday June 2, 2013 while holding her husband's hand at North Logan Health Care in Danville IL. She was born June 1, 1931 in Danville IL. to Robert and Edna (Aitken) Porter. She married Charles Claypool on Christmas Eve in 1949, he survives. Other survivors include her daughter Connie (Russ) Osgood of Danville IL. and son Mike (Cindy) Claypool of Newburgh IN.; four grandchildren - Sue (Robert) Sadler of Danville, Cindy Osgood of Indianapolis IN., CJ (Alisha) Claypool of Newburgh IN., and Jessica Claypool of New Orleans LA.; two great-granddaughters Erica and Alexis Sadler of Danville; sister-in-law Hilda Wangler and several nieces and nephews. Delores loved her husband and her family and was known for her cooking and baking skills. She looked forward to preparing and serving family dinners and took great pleasure in making everyone feel welcome in her home. Christmas was her favorite holiday and during the season she shared her baked goods with many friends and neighbors. Delores was a lifelong member of the Second Church of Christ in Danville as well as a founding member of the Whitfield Christian Church of Sarasota FL. She and her husband Charles were able to enjoy over 30 years as part time residents of Sarasota Florida. She will be missed by family and friends from both communities. A celebration of Delores's life will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday June 6, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville IL. with Pastor Drew Mentzer officiating and burial at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm on Wednesday June 5, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville.
