Verla Maurine French

Verla Maurine French was a caring sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She passed away suddenly at OSF Medical Center in Danville on October 25, 2021.

She was born to Lyle and Delores French on February 24, 1942. She graduated from Danville High School in 1960 and married Kenneth Meeks in 1963.

Maurine spent her life caring for others, putting her heart and soul into everything she did from housecleaning to decorating beautiful cakes. She cared deeply for family and strangers alike. She fervently loved the Lord and attending church services.

Maurine is survived by siblings David (Rosemary) French and Elizabeth French-Stout; sister-in-law Nancy Davis; children Cheryl (Steve) Hadsall, Scott, Teresa, and Kenny Meeks; grandchildren Preston, Brandon, Skyla, Monet, Grayson, Kimberly, Jessica, and Justin; great-grandchildren Steven, Erica, Emmalee, Precious, Breanna, October, Landon, and LaMichael; nieces Debbie, Connie, Linda, Tammy, Tammy, Amanda and a nephew Drew. She is also survived by lifelong friends Linda Rogers, Kay Ellen Pannebaker, and Jack Stark.

She was preceded in death by grandchildren Jeanette Hadsall, Christopher Reineke, nephew Terry Davis, niece Michelle Davis, and brother-in-law Larry Stout.

Burial arrangements are being handled by Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville. Burial will be at Hicks Cemetery in Perrysville. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
