Vera May Wise

Vera May (Grimes) Wise, 90, of Collison, IL, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 12, 2015 at Indiana University Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. Vera was born the daughter of Elmer and Flossia (Neff) Grimes on May 21, 1924 in Newtown, IL. She married Albert Wise in Newtown, IL on February 22, 1948 at Hebron United Methodist Church, Albert preceded Vera in death on March 6, 1995. Surviving Vera is one daughter in law Brenda Wise of Oakwood, former daughter in law Patti Wise of Oakwood, two sister in laws Betty Hart of Jacksonville, Fl. and Jewell Wise of Hoopston; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Gary) Reffett of Oakwood, Mike (Shannon) Wise Herndon, VA, Dale (Amy) Wise of Oakwood, Deanna (Jeremy) Wise-Frerichs of Lafayette, IN.; eight great grandchildren, Emily Wise, Cameron Wise, Emma Wise, Joshua Wise, Aaron Wise, Katie Reffett, Abigail Frerichs and Aleta Frerichs. Preceding Vera in death was her parents, two brothers William (Mary) Grimes and Elmer Junior Grimes, two sons Wayne Wise and Paul Wise. Vera was a faithful servant of the Lord her entire life. Most recently she spent the last six years at Heritage Health Care in West Lafayette, IN. being a witness to all who knew her. She was a wonderful cook and had a passion for gardening. She also was an avid reader, but most of all Vera loved being with family, especially going to activities with her children and grandchildren. Vera was a member of the Hebron United Methodist Church and later the Muncie Baptist Church. A Celebration of Veras Life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, on Sunday March 15, 2015 at 3:00 pm. Family will be receiving friends from 2:00 until 3:00 pm. Burial will take place on Monday at 10:00 am at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Memorials can be made in Veras name to the Muncie Baptist Church Thrift Shop.
