Vera Fiscus

Vera Jean Fiscus, 87, of Danville, IL, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at North Logan Health Care Center in Danville, IL. She was born on July 6, 1928 in Armstrong, IL to Lewis and Ethel Thornton. Vera married the love of her life, Edward Fiscus on February 11, 1949 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Danville. Surviving are their four children, Randy (Jessica) Fiscus of Springfield, IL, Terry (Gail) Fiscus of St. Paul, MN, Vicky (Kevin) Burke of Terre Haute, IN, and Cindy (Danny) Shahan of Danville; Grandchildren, Rebecca Gray, Gabriel Fiscus, Elana Fiscus, Ariel Fiscus, Zoe Fiscus, Tammy Robertson, Caleb Fiscus, Melody Fiscus, Joshua Fiscus, Joleen Fiscus, Nathan Fiscus, Jessica Clevenger, Josalyn Stuck, Paige Zuerner, Terra Williamson, and Traca Shahan and seventeen great-grandchildren (with another on the way). Also surviving is daughter-in-law Sari Fiscus of Springfield, IL. Vera was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings. Vera graduated from Potomac High School. Upon graduation, she moved to Danville to work at R&S Printing Company, where she met Ed. After their children were grown, Vera became a realtor. She truly enjoyed this profession, meeting new people and making many friends. Ed and Vera spent numerous winters in Bradenton, FL. The couple was married nearly 63 years. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the employees and residents of North Logan Health Care who became dear friends to Vera over the past eight years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at St. Paul's Catholic Church with Father Greg Nelson officiating. Burial shall follow at Resurrection Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home in Danville. The Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul's Catholic Church.
