Veatrice V. Dowers

Cayuga, Ind. - An Angel ascended from earth into Heaven on March 6th, 2022, when 82 year old Veatrice Victoria Dowers went to meet her Lord and Savior.

Veatrice was born on November 18, 1939 in Cayuga, Indiana the daughter of the late James and Lorane (Vanote) Hartman.

She married Reverend Jimmy C. Dowers on August 30, 1964 in Covington, Indiana. He survives.

Other survivors include her daughter: Cathy (Randy) Bunt of Hoover, Alabama; two sons: Brian (Joelle) Dowers of Covington, Indiana and Allen (Catherine) Dowers of Terre Haute, Indiana; six grandchildren: Ashley, Nathanial, Christopher, Timothy, Justus and Lydia; six great-grandchildren, sister: Loretta (John) Rose of Colorado Springs, Colorado and multiple nieces and nephews.

Veatrice was preceded in death by two brothers.

Veatrice formerly worked at General Electric in Danville, Illinois and later at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Covington, Indiana. Veatrice was a 1957 graduate of Cayuga High School. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, yard work and watching football.

Funeral services: 11 a.m. EST Thursday, March 10, 2022 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Reverend Jimmy C. Dowers; Burial: Thomas Cemetery, Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 10 a.m. EST Thursday, March 10, 2022 until time of services at the funeral home.
