Veatrice LaVerne Clapp Clouse, 96, died at 12:50 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2007, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Danville. Veatrice was born September 18, 1910, in Muncie, IL, the daughter of Sardis and Mamie (Lucas) Clapp. She married Nathan William Clouse on February 21, 1932 in Ogden, IL and he preceded her in death on December 15, 1999. Veatrice is survived by a son, Gary (Cindy) Clouse of Newtown, IL; a daughter, Linda Johnson of White Heath, IL; two granddaughters, Heidi (Ross) Warren of Philo, IL and Brandy (Jim) Ryan of Champaign, IL; a grandson, Beau (Jana) Clouse of Plainfield, IL; two great-grandchildren, Gaven and Laney Clouse both of Plainfield, IL; one sister and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a brother and a son-in-law, Lewis. Veatrice graduated from Oakwood High School and had attended Utterbacks Business College. She lived on farms in the Hoopeston and Oakwood areas, retiring in 1983. Veatrice was a member of The First Church of Christ in Hoopeston, a member of Vermilion County Home Extension and a 17 year member of the Eastern Illinois Fair Association. She enjoyed cooking and all types of crafts and needlework. Veatrice loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren very much. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, IL with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel. Memorials may be made in Veatrices name to Colonial Manor Nursing Home or donors choice.
