Vanessa D. Garretson

CHAMPAIGN-Vanessa D. Garretson, 58, of Champaign passed away at 3:15pm on Thursday (August 22, 2013) at her home. Vanessa was born on February 24, 1955 in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of George and LaVerne (Hanna) Garretson. They preceded her in death. She is survived by her life love, Rosita Gordon of Champaign; brother, Steve (Vicki) Garretson; two sisters, Valerie (Dan) Stover and Vicky (Dave) Guist; nephews, Clint, Marcus and Tyler Garretson, Eric, and Ean Decker, Elliott, Emerson, and Ethan Guist; and a niece, Leah Stover; and many great nieces and nephews. Vanessa retired after 30 years of service from Patterson Companies. She held many management positions, most recently as a Stock Fulfillment Manager. She enjoyed family gatherings that involved outdoor activities displaying her grilling talents. She also enjoyed traveling, music, and sports. She will be fondly remembered for her diverse personality and sparkling wit. A Memorial Gathering will be on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, with a Celebration of Life following at 7:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center Champaign Urbana Chapel, 710 N.
