Vance E. Pearson

With deep sorrow, family and friends mourn the unexpected death of Vance E. Pearson, of Georgetown, a well-known farmer in the area, who passed away at 10:15pm, Monday, June 12, 2017, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on November 19, 1923, in Ridge Farm, IL, the son of Edward and LaVon {Berry} Pearson. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Sims in 1945, with whom he had 3 children. He later married Mary {Whitaker} Taran in 2008. She survives. He is survived by: his son, Steven (Cher) Pearson of Clinton, IN; his daughters, Virginia "Ginny" Denton of Normal, IL and Connie (Leland) Davis of Danville; his grandchildren, Lorri (Marc) Elder, Lucy (Rob) Nord, Leslie (Aaron) Garrett, John (Missy) Loop, Christy Loop, Troy Pearson, & Stephanie Pearson; his seventeen great grandchildren; his 2 great-great granddaughters; and his sister, Audrey Bell of Georgetown. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his siblings, Dorothy Bellamy, Maxine Jones, & Paul Pearson; his wife, Evelyn Sims; and his second wife, Mary Ann Sunkle Pearson. Besides farming, Vance had many other interests. He and his wife, Evelyn, built and ran an implement company and later they started a construction business. Together they designed and built the subdivision west of Ridge Farm. Vance excelled at baseball and bowling doing so until his later years. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. A celebration of Vance's life will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown, IL 61846. Visitation will be held 4pm to 7pm, Friday, June 16, 2017, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery, Ridge Farm. Memorial donations may be given in his name to Forest Glen County Preserve where he often enjoyed visiting during his final years.
