Valerie Nickle

Valerie Nickle, 86, of Danville passed away Friday, November 18, 2022, at OSF Hospital. Valerie was born the second of seven children to Clifford and Lucile (Kick) Creason on October 9, 1936.

She was preceded in death by all three of her children, Alan Young, Debie Fugate, and Pam Fuller and four of her siblings, Earl Creason, Jim Creason, Pat McCulloch, and De McCord.

She is survived by two brothers, Clifford (Sarah) Creason of Columbia City, Indiana, and Don (Jane) Creason of Fithian; her beloved grandchildren, Tammy Lopez, Aaron Chesrown, Carla Gieseke, and Amanda Krabbe; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; a sister-in-law, Myrna Creason; a brother-in-law, Lee McCord; many nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Don Scott.

After graduating from Oakwood High School in 1954, Valerie had a variety of jobs. She worked at R & S Printing when she was younger and at Head Start for over thirty years until she retired at age 81. She was a member of the American Legion and the Danville United Church of Christ. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, reading, playing euchre and bingo, and collecting Creason family history. She especially enjoyed meals out with family, especially with her grandchildren. Despite many difficult times in her life, Valerie remained positive. She was a strong woman.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Officiating will be Todd Creason. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville at a later date. Contributions may be made to the Danville United Church of Christ in Valerie's name.
