Valerie M. Coon

Valerie M. Coon 91, of Champaign, IL. passed away on Saturday November 25, 2023, in Champaign. She was born on March 12, 1932, in Cheltenham, England, the daughter of Albert and Nellie Hyett.

She came to the United States on the Queen Mary to visit her sister and met her husband, Marshall. They fell in love and were married on November 25, 1955. They moved across the country and overseas to Japan before returning to Illinois while Marshall served in the United States Air Force.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam, sister, Janet and grandchildren Ashley, Alex and Scott.

Valerie was a die-hard Illini fan, she attended and watched many games throughout the years, she also loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Marshall, sisters, Noreen and Barbara, brother Ken and granddaughter, Tiffany.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Meals on Wheels Champaign County.

A service will be held at 11am on Monday, December 4th, 2023, at Grandview Memorial Gardens 4112 W Bloomington Rd. Champaign, IL. 61822 in the mausoleum.
