Truman 'T.D.' Piatt

Truman D. T.D. Piatt, 94, of Westville, passed away at 8:05pm, August 14, 2014, at Colonial Manor Nursing Home, Danville. He was born the son of Roy and Molly {Davis} Piatt on March 14, 1920, in Westville. He was united in marriage to Ruth B. Knight on October 14, 1972 in Georgetown until her passing on February 27, 1998. He is survived by: his daughters, Janet Payne & Linda (Mario) Biava, both of Westville; his grandchildren, Penny (Jody) Yoho of Cayuga, IN, Tony (Garla Camp) Piatt of Hillery, Kara (Bud) Boyer of Danville, D.G. (Beth) Washkowiak of Tilton, Ronnie (Shawn) Payne of Warrenville, Rich (Carrie) Washkowiak of Catlin, Randy Payne of Pinckneyville, IL, & Jason Washkowiak of Gessie, IN; his 12 great grandchildren; his one great-great grandchild; his life-long friend, Frank Anderson of Georgetown; his good friend, Phil Harper of Jamesburg, whom he thought of as a son; and his special friend, Garnett Stones of Westville, IL. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his son, Roy Lee Piatt; his brothers, Standford, Morris, and his sisters, Grace & Gertrude. Truman worked for Allith Proudy in Danville, Georgetown Township, the Boat Factory in Danville, & retired from Anchor Hocking in Danville. He also served as house parent in the Collett Childrens Home in Cayuga for 4 years. Truman was a member of the NRA and loved coon-hunting, mushroom hunting, and pony-pulling. He also enjoyed going to auctions & having coffee at Fred Burkes place. The family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at Colonial Manor and also to Dr. Karinattu for the excellent care of Truman. A celebration of Trumans life will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville, with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Visitation will be held 12:00pm - 2:00pm Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in McKendree Cemetery.
