Trudy Ann Wyatt

Trudy Ann Wyatt, 60, of Danville, passed peacefully into the loving hands of God on Monday, Jan 16, 2012, with Theresa, her sister, and Les, her brother-in-law whom she called brother, at her side. Trudy had a keen eye for both appreciating and creating beauty, ardent intellectual curiosity and a passion for educating and encouraging youth and adults who crave to learn and create a better world for themselves, their families, and their communities. Educator, mentor, Christian, artist, sister, friend and encourager of all, Trudy will be dearly missed by many. A graduate of Eastern Illinois University, Trudy was an exceptional teacher and a caring colleague from 1973 to 2006 in the Danville schools (Fairchild, South View, and Meade Park.) Her willingness to go the extra mile for students, her total devotion to her work, her compassion for boys and girls, and her instructional effectiveness earned her Teacher of the Year as well as other honors, but even more importantly to her, the trust and confidence of her students, parents, and co-workers. She also was a part-time faculty member at Danville Area Community College, and was active in an adult literacy program. Trudy was a member of the Delta Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an organization for women educators. A member since 1997, she chaired several committees including Literacy, Membership, History, and Women in the Arts. She also served as President for one Biennium. Trudy served on the board of the Danville Art League, where she also taught art classes for children and had major involvement with class development, expansion projects such as the League's new facility, and ongoing support of the art community. She also was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where she served in multiple roles, including the Altar Guild and Choir. The elder daughter of Bob and Mary Alice Wyatt of Chrisman, Trudy is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Theresa and Les Prebilsky of Houston, TX; aunts Mrs. Jo Ann Wyatt and Mrs. Dorothy Rogers of Chrisman; cousins Mrs. Jan Fonner of Chrisman, Mrs. Judy Beard of Decatur, Philip Wyatt of Springfield and their families, and George Rogers and Steve Rogers of Chrisman and their families. A memorial and celebration of love of Trudy will begin at 11:00am, Saturday, Jan 21, 2012, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 901 West Fairchild St., Danville. Visitation at the church will begin at 10:00am until time of service.
