Treca Dunham

Treca Dunham, 88 of Covington, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2026. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Treca leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, kindness, and dedication to her family.

She was born March 25, 1938, to Alva and Cora (English) Young, and spent her childhood in the Perrysville area. She attended Rabb Grade School and graduated from Perrysville High School in 1956. On July 7 of that same year, she married her high school sweetheart, Charles Dunham. Together they built a life centered on family, faith, and community until Charles' passing on December 24, 1998.

Treca was a homemaker whose greatest joy came from caring for those she loved. Over the years, she held several jobs while helping raise her three boys in the Perrysville and Covington communities. Always hardworking and devoted to her family, Treca retired from the county court system in 1997 after ten years of service so she could dedicate herself to caring for Charles.

She enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening, quilting, and spending time with her beloved dogs. She also cherished riding motorcycles with Charles, playing the piano, singing, and worshiping through her church. Treca attended Wabash Chapel Church and had been a member of West Liberty Christian Church since joining as a youth in 1947. Above all else, she treasured her family and took immense pride in every generation that followed her.

She is survived by her sons, Dean (Shelia) Dunham, Tony (Karen) Dunham, and Brad (Luann) Dunham; her siblings, Virginia Allen, Joan Frank, and Bill Young; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Treca was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dunham; her parents, Alva and Cora Young; her siblings, Mary Lawless, Gene Young, and Elmo Young; and daughter-in-law, Marvel (Gebbink) Dunham.

Treca's life was a testament to unconditional love, enduring faith, and unwavering devotion to her family, which she was especially proud of.

Treca left the following message for those she loved: “I was never perfect, but I leave this earth knowing I did the best that I could -and dearly loved so many good people”. Her memory will be cherished forever by all that knew and loved her.

Treca will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Covington, to be reunited with her beloved husband Charles at a later date.
