From an early age, Trace exhibited a strong sense of purpose and a drive to help others. He began his career in public service as an Aroma Park Firefighter and EMT at the young age of 18. His dedication to the fire service continued as he worked with several fire departments until he proudly became a Champaign Firefighter in September 2021. Trace's impressive journey in public safety was complemented by his education; he graduated with an associate's degree in criminal justice at age 18 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Olivet Nazarene University.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Trace was also a dedicated member of the United States Army Reserves and an active participant in the Champaign Firefighters Benevolent Fund. His commitment to his peers and the community extended further through his role as a board member for Anchor Point.

He was always there when needed, embodying the qualities of a true friend, a reliable teammate, and a loving husband. He was empathetic, adventurous, creative, and athletic; his vibrant personality and infectious spirit allowed him to forge meaningful connections with those around him.
A lover of the outdoors, Trace enjoyed hiking with his dog, Rudi, and exploring nature. He was also an avid soccer player and fan; loyally supporting FC Barcelona. He loved music, as he played multiple instruments, including the piano, guitar, drums, and saxophone.
Trace is survived by his spouse, Samantha Cox; his father, Brad Conover; his mother, Tanya Conover; his sister, Kayle Conover; and his loyal dog, Rudi. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Marilyn and Jerry Rice, and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Nancy Conover. Their memories will forever be cherished by Trace's family, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
