Tony Mullins

Tony Mullins, 93, of Danville, passed away Saturday September 17, 2016 at 10:10AM at his home. Tony was born the son of Taylor Mullins and Liccie Ellen Dowdy on February 28, 1923 in Cheneyville, IL. Tony is survived by five nieces, Michelle (Ford) Heaton of San Diego, CA, Hellen (Mullins) Miller of Hoopeston, IL, Linda (Matthews) Moore of Monticello, IL, Judy (Masengale) Pittman of Villa Grove, IL, Norma (Strunk) Wheeldon of Munice, IN; four nephews, Jim Ford of Delmar, CA, Kevin Mackin of Englewood,FL, Dan Masengale of Placida, FL, Randy Matthews of Farmer, IL; an 25 great nieces and nephews. Tony is preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Ruth Mullins, Edith Badders, Esther Masengale, Emma Foster; two brothers, Edgar Mullins, Edward Mullins; three nieces, Ava (Masengale) Egnew, Susan (Matthews) Rhodes, Pam (Mackin) Bellik; and one nephew, William (Bill) Matthews Tony was a graduate of Utterback Business School. He worked as the Assistant Treasuer at Hall Freight Lines for 26 years before taking a job at Danville Auto Parts where he worked for 21 years. In his spare time Tony took care of his Mother Liccie (Dowdy) Mullins for many years until her passing. Tony has resided at Wolford Apartments for 13 years. He was happy and comfortable there and enjoyed many friends. He enjoyed being involved with others at the Wolford, such as Saturday morning coffee, holiday get togethers, card playing and other games. He was very happy to make some of his favorite recipes for carry-ins. Tony's family would like to thank the Wolford, North Logan and to Tony's many friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2PM on Monday September 26, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be pastor Jeffrey Alexander.
