Tonjia 'Toni' Myers

Our Loved One, Tonjia "Toni" Myers, went to be with our Savior on October 15, 2016. Toni was born on July 14, 1960, to Carl and Ruth {Smith} Lewis at Portsmouth Naval Hospital, Portsmouth, VA. On October 13, 1979, she was united in marriage to David Myers. He survives. From that union two children were born, Lauren (Joshua) Lear of Crawfordsville and Logan (Amanda) Myers of Charleston. She is also survived by the "Apple of her eye", her grandson, Kingston Lear of Crawfordsville and her two loving grand pups, Lady Jaina and Sir Bocephus. She will also be missed by: her husband; her parents, Ruth & Jim Thomas of Georgetown; her sisters, Teresa (Tim) Davis of Fithian, Phyllis (Eric) Lomax of Catlin, & Tammy (Doug) Howard of Georgetown; her brother, Carl (Debbie) Lewis of Oakwood & Jimmy (Sabrina) Thomas of Georgetown; as well as, her sister-in-law, Paula (John) Berlin of Georgetown; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, & great-nephews will feel the loss also. She will be missed by her special companion, Ribeye, her little dachshund. Toni was preceded in death by: her father, Carl; her parents-in-law, Harold & Betty Myers; her niece, Jenny Davis; her nephew, Joe Lewis; and her maternal & paternal grandparents. Toni was a happy, caring and loving person who was always there for any one in need. Toni had a great detail for story-telling which kept you laughing. We will miss those facial expressions as she told the story. Toni started her career in nursing at the age of 16 as a feeder for patients at a local nursing home. For the next 35 years, she worked as a nurse for Dr. Andracki, Dr. Lin & Dr. Shiesh before becoming an office manager for Dr. Kaplan. For the last one and half years, she worked at the Danville VA Medical Center as a Medical Support Associate. Toni loved to travel and spend time with her family, especially her grandson. She loved family get-togethers. Her love for gardening and flower gardens showed greatly. While she was gardening, she would also spend time talking with her Lord. She loved listening to the birds. A Memorial Celebration of Toni's life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown, with Pastor Garry Hendrick officiating. Visitation will be held 4pm-7pm, Wednesday, October 19. 2016, at the funeral home. The family requests guests to dress casually. As were her wishes, Toni will be cremated.
