Tom Danny R. Danneberger, age 89, of Columbus, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at his home. Danny was born in Shelby County, Illinois on March 2, 1922 to the late Tom and Clover Danneberger. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in the South Pacific during WWII. Danny graduated with his B.S. from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois where he was the founding member of the Sigma Pi Fraternity. He retired from Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois, after 35 years of service. He was a member of the Art League in Danville and Champaign, Illinois and a longtime member of the Optimist Club. Danny was also a member of St. James Methodist Church in Danville, Illinois. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Marion and David. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Evelyn (Davis) Danneberger; sons, Karl (Sallie) Danneberger of Dublin, Ohio and Glenn Danneberger of San Diego, California; grandsons, Marc and Kyle; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of the life of Tom Danny R. Danneberger will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 12th, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, with Pastor Kim Dancey officiating. Inurnment will follow the service in Springhill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
