Timothy 'Tim' W. Connelly

Timothy Tim W. Connelly, 90, of Danville, passed away at 6:32pm on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana surrounded by his family. He was born on December 10, 1920, in Danville, the son of Timothy J. and Mary (Merkle) Connelly. On September 22, 1951, Tim married Geraldine Jordan at the St. Pauls Catholic Church in Danville. Surviving family members include his wife, Geraldine of 59 years, and their son, Stephen J. (Jamie) Connelly of Danville. His ten grandchildren, Cheryl Woodmansee Moore of Champaign, Amanda Woodmansee Beyers of Pana, IL, Amanda Peterson of Indianapolis, IN, Zechariah Connelly of Westville, Michael Connelly of Jacksonville, FL, Alexander Connelly of Champaign, Alexander Peterson of Crawfordsville, IN, Murphy Connelly of Danville, Chase Connelly of Danville, and Ashley Peterson Hannon of Danville, as well as his fifteen great-grandchildren, his brother, Paul Connelly of Westville, and several nieces and nephews also survive him. His parents, three brothers, Joseph, Leo, and Carl Connelly, and his five sisters, Mary Smith, Francis Burkowski, Elizabeth Connelly, Clara Roth, and Margaret Susnosky preceded Tim in death. He was a 1940 Danville High School graduate and attended the Washington, State University for AirCorp training. In 1942, Tim joined the United States Air Corp, serving his county until 1945. After the military, he worked for the Ameritech Phone Company as an assignment clerk until his retirement. He had a passion for flying airplanes, and enjoyed fishing. He was a member of St. Pauls Church in Danville, life member of the Knights of Columbus, the Danville American Legion Post 210, and the Telephone Pioneers Illini Council. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him. A catholic mass to celebrate the life of Timothy W Connelly will begin at 10:00am on Friday, December 31, 2010 at St. Pauls Church in Danville, with Father Greg Nelson officiating. Entombment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery follow the mass with military honors by Danville American Legion Post 210. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4-8pm on Thursday, December 30, 2010 with a prayer service beginning at 3:30pm Thursday, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N.
