Timothy Ryan Murray

Timothy Ryan “Ryan” Murray, of Champaign, IL, passed away on October 25, 2025, at Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born on April 17, 1979.

Ryan was preceded in death by his grandparents—James and Nancy Griggs, David and Linda Hamilton, and John and Joan Murray—as well as his infant brother, Cameron Murray.

He is survived by his loving parents, Timothy and Jeanne Murray; his sister, Kelly Nelson (Andrew); and his brother, Spencer Murray (Lindsay). Ryan also leaves behind his cherished nieces and nephew, Cora and Bryce Nelson and Harlyn Murray; and many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ryan participated in the Special Olympics, where the skills he learned served him well as he tackled other challenges in life. A devoted fan of all Fighting Illini teams and the Chicago Cubs, Ryan had an incredible memory for player stats, game results, and coaching rosters. He had a special gift for connecting with children, especially his nieces and nephew, who brought him immense joy.

Ryan’s faith was central to his life. He loved Jesus deeply, worshipped faithfully at his church, and shared a meaningful bond with his pastor, Brett Smith. Ryan lived life fully—with joy, love, and a generous heart. His spirit, laughter, and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
