On Sunday, October 18, 2020, Timothy Joseph East, loving father, son, brother, and uncle, passed away unexpectantly at the age of 57 at his home in Champaign, Illinois.
Tim was born on August 9, 1963 in Sandusky, Ohio to Kenneth and Carol (Sigrist) East. He graduated from Fairless High School in Navarre, Ohio in 1981. In 1982, Tim enlisted in the United States Navy and spent his commitment of duty traveling the world and serving our country. He loved to tell people that he crossed the equator 12 times. He played basketball while he was in the Navy and won several awards. At all stages of his life, Tim was known for his quick wit and humor. He could definitely always make you laugh.
Tim had several passions in his life. The first and most important being his sons. He adored them and held so much pride in them as their father. If you ever talked to him, you knew about his boys. Tim was also a really good cook. He spent most of his career in the food and beverage (hospitality) industry in Ohio, New York, Maryland, Indiana, Illinois and Michigan. His love of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls was unprecedented. To say he was a big fan is an understatement. Finally, Tim loved to spend time at his grandparents farm as a child/teenager. He knew every cat roaming the property, every cows name, what kind of tractors were on the farm (and how to drive them) and how to milk the cows. He loved exploring when he was there, whether it was with his siblings, or on his own.
Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Carol East. He is survived by his sons, Timothy, Anthony, Kenneth and Ryan, all of Champaign, Illinois; his father, Kenneth East, of Beach City, Ohio; his brother Jeff East, of Brewster, Ohio; his sister and brother in law, Jennifer and Tom Hamilton, of Canal Fulton, Ohio; and his ex-wife, Jennifer Ghezzi-East, also of Champaign, Illinois. Tim is also survived by his nieces and nephews who he loved spending time with.
In keeping with Tims wishes, cremation has taken place through the care of Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Champaign, Illinois 710 N Neil St. Champaign, Illinois 61820. A service will be held in Ohio later in the Spring of 2021. Because Tims death was unexpected, should friends desire, contributions for funeral expenses and living expenses for his sons can be made online at paypal.me/Teast2 (Timothy East) or can be mailed to Busey Bank, 2011 W. Springfield Ave., Champaign, Illinois 61812 attn: Timothy East Account 9805.
