Danville Tim Allen Drake, 65, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 4:16 PM on June 20th, 2023 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis, MO.
Tim was born on July 13, 1957, the son of Richard and Lucie (Marondola) Drake in Danville, IL. He married Connie Wilcoxen on April 20, 1996.
Those who are left to carry out his legacy include his wife, Connie Drake, two sons, Derek (Mayce) Drake and Cody Drake, and loved by two little girls who called him "Pompa", two brothers, Richard (Susan) Drake and Ron (Kenda Morgan) Drake, his mother-in-law, Veda Wilcoxen, brother-in-law, Kerry (Kathy) Wilcoxen, sisters-in-law, Cheri (Lee) High and Cristy (Stacey) Sackett, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Tim is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Keith Wilcoxen.
Tim graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL with a bachelors degree. He worked for WITY in the 70s and would later work at WIAI in the 80s as a DJ. In 1987 Tim began his police career by entering the Illinois State Police Academy. His career ended in 2013 when he retired as a Sergeant in Investigations. While serving with the Illinois State Police, Tim was a part of many programs, such as being a DARE instructor and working for VMEG.
After retirement, Tim kept himself busy through the means of part-time jobs. Notably, Tim was a Funeral Attendant with Sunset Funeral Home, as well as his business, Illinois Pro Carry, where he served as a Concealed Carry Instructor. Tim would also farm for the Ohl brothers in the fall. Additionally, Tim took to many hobbies such as the Purple Finger Club at Sleepy Creek and visiting a Danville Dans game with his oldest brother Rick.
Tim enjoyed many things in life; however, nothing came before the love he had for his family. For without his family, the things Tim enjoyed would have never become whole. Tim enjoyed traveling and unique experiences, which is best represented by his trips to Disney World. Tim felt the true Disney magic as he saw the immense joy it brought to his wife and sons. In this regard, it is noticed that Tims source of inspiration is taken by that of his father Richard Drake.
Richard is known for revolving his whole life around his kids and family, which Tim took it upon himself to do the same. Tim enjoyed going to church with his family, especially the church cafe where his wife would make his favorite coffee as he sat around the table. However, this did not overshadow his relationship with the Lord.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Grace Community Church at 1629 King St. Tilton, IL 61833. Jeremy McLaughlin will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 AM on July 1, 2023 at the church.
