Thurman 'Lamoine' Alcorn

Thurman Lamoine Alcorn, 84, of Tilton, passed away at 4:38 p.m. Sunday, December 13, 2009 at VA Illiana Healthcare Systems in Danville. Lamoine was born on February 17, 1925 in Danville, the son of Jonah and Minnie Beatrice (Alcorn) Alcorn. He married Cora Brown in June of 1946 in Tilton. She preceded him in death in 1983. He is survived by his son- Jerry Alcorn of Tilton; sister- Ardith Cheuvront of Tilton; three grandchildren- Todd Alcorn, Angie Alcorn and Jessica Alcorn; one great-grandson-Michael Alcorn; four nephews- Charles (Michelle) Cheuvront of Tilton, Michael (Renee) Cheuvront of Okeechobee, Florida, Mark (Pam) Cheuvront of Danville and Vaughn (Saundra) Alcorn of Danville; and cousin- Gene (Pam) Alcorn of Danville. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother- Elmer Alcorn and daughter-in-law- Brenda Jean Alcorn. Lamoine enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1943 to 1946. He worked as a contractor for 10 years and owned Touch of Class in Rossville. He previously worked for Conron and the Commercial-News in Danville. He loved antiques and Christmas. He also enjoyed cooking, singing and going to the Danville Light Opera. A Celebration of the Life of Thurman Lamoine Alcorn will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with Pastor Kevin Cox officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakridge Cemetery in Catlin. Memorials may be made to the American Alzheimer Association.
