Danville- Thomas W. Hundley, Jr. 78, of Danville, died at 8:59 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011 at home. He was born June 16, 1933 in Danville to Thomas W. Hundley and Mary Alice Pattison. He married Lynda Kaye (Barth) Hundley November 24, 1965 in Danville at Central Christian Church. Survivors include five sons, Thomas W. (Dina) Hundley, III, Jeffrey C. Hundley, and Christopher J., Hundley, all of Danville, IL, Charles J. Hundley of Urbana, IL, and Randy S. (Gina) Hundley of Belvidere, IL. Tom is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and one on the way! He was preceded in death by his parents, and one half-brother. Tom attended Danville grade schools and graduated from Danville High School, Class of 1951. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War as an Air Traffic Controller. He began his insurance career in 1957 in the Danville office of The Prudential. In 1969, he became an independent agent when he started his own agency. Later he gained an NASD securities license, earned the Life Underwriting Training Council Fellow designation and collected years of National Quality Awards. He has been featured in Who's Who and various other business and professional publications. He was a member of the Danville Life Underwriters Association and served as its president. He was honored to qualify for membership in the Million Dollar Roundtable. His favorite pastime was playing basketball at the YMCA where he learned to play as a child and later served as a Youth Basketball Coach for his son's teams for 9 years. He is a member of the American Legion, and former member of the Korean War Veterans. A service to celebrate the life of Thomas W. Hundley, Jr. will be held at 11 AM on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Visitation will be from 9:30-11 AM prior to the services. Reverend Dave Garver will officiate. Military rites and burial will follow at Danville National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, The American Heart Association, and the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
