Thomas V. Gummere

Danville - Tom Gummere, 84, passed away on September 15, 2023 at his home in Danville, IL surrounded by his family. He was born in Danville, IL on February 13, 1939 to John William and Maudie Grace Gummere. He married Karen Shade on October 25, 1958. They would have celebrated their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary next month. Tom was a great husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He is survived by two sons, Timothy J. (Tammy Anderson) Gummere, Ernest W. "Bub" (Crystal) Gummere, and a daughter, Grace E. (Hank) Judd; five grandchildren, Tiffany (Lance) Becker, Joey Gummere, Morgan (Brandon) Hausey, Weston Judd, Luke Judd, and four great grandchildren; and a German Shephard named Milly that he loved so much. During his difficult times he had the wonderful support and loving care of his Granddaughter Tiffany who is a nurse.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Viginia Hasselbring of Jasper IN, Mary Rodgers of Danville, John (Willy) Gummere of Danville, Bob Gummere of Hoopeston, and Joe Gummere of Danville.

Tom lived and worked his whole life as an Autobody Repairman in Danville, IL. He was also a member of the National Guard in which he served for 11 years. In his free time, Tom was a talented guitarist and loved playing lead for his band. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A service to celebrate the life of Tom Gummere will be held at 10 AM on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Thursday, September 21, 2023, also at Sunset in Danville. The family would like to request visitors to dress casually, as Tom was a casual man.
