Thomas Gay Tuggle, 85, passed away on November 11, 2022. He was born on December 3, 1936, Danville, IL the son of Meril and Rita Tuggle.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife Bevella Jean Tuggle, who passed in 2021 and by his granddaughter, Toni Jean Snyder in 2016.
Together they shared a large family, including 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Prior to his retirement he spent many happy years in Muskegon, Michigan, the last of which were spent at Big Blue Lake. In 1997 Tom and Bev moved to North Carolina. Tom loved people. He was an avid golfer, had enjoyed many travels, and volunteered extensively with Habitat for Humanity and the American Red Cross. Tom was an avid reader and especially enjoyed a challenging crossword puzzle. Tom loved his family. Even though he lived a distance from his grandchildren, he always made it a point to attend their special events. Always being sure to dance with all of his granddaughters at every family wedding he attended.
Tom is survived by his children, Thomas M. (Julie) Tuggle, Toni (Craig) Windquist, Tammi (Jim) Shaw, Terri Cranney, Robert (Jane) Snyder Jr., and Donna Oberle. In addition, his 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, Tom is also survived by his siblings, James (Da) Tuggle, George Tuggle, and Sally (Dave) Janikowski.
A private service is planned. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Those who wish to remember Tom in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Transylvania County Habitat For Humanity, 692 Ecusta Rd., Brevard, NC 28712.
