Thomas "Tommy" Leahy

Danville – Thomas “Tommy” Leahy, 54, of Danville passed away at 10:30 AM on August 30, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Tommy was born October 22, 1969 the son of Thomas and Margo (McMurray) Leahy.

Survivors include his partner of 29 years, Scott Byers, his brother, Steven Leahy of Orland Park, IL, his sister, Kathy (Donald) Leahy-Warner of Bismarck, his aunts, Glenda McMurray of Sarasota, FL and Martha Leahy of Carpentersville, IL, and his cousins, Michael McMurray of Sarasota, FL, Liz (Kevin) O’Keefe of Flowery Branch, GA, Laura (Ramzi) Hermiz of Northville MI,

Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, and one sister, Ruth Leahy.

Tommy worked at Walmart for almost 33 years. He enjoyed working on home improvement projects, was an avid collector of diecast and model cars, as well as various antiques and had an extensive collection of glass items. Tommy was known for his wicked sense of humor, his love of anything automotive and enjoyed a wide range of music.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday September 7, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Miles Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 5-7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in Tommy’s memory to the Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association.
