Thomas 'Tom' W. Thornsbrough

Thomas "Tom" W. Thornsbrough, 94, of Danville passed away February 23, 2019 at Colonel Manor Nursing Home, Danville. Tom was born on April 5, 1924 in Bismarck the son of Orville and Mabel Thornsbrough. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Erville Thornsbrough, sister, Thelma Smith, his brothers, Carl Thornsbrough & Marvin Thornsbrough, and sister, Mary Ellen Eaton.

Tom was a grain and livestock farmer in the Bismarck, Henning and Potomac area. He retired from Farming in 1976 and also retired from Hyster in Danville. After retirement he was a member of the Westville city board and was a driver for Faith in Action.

He married Cecilia Paskey in Danville and they had four children: Deborah (Barry) Waitkus of Springfield, IL, Rebecca Meeker of Palm Harbor, FL, Mark (Donna) of Champaign, and Eric Thornsbrough of Palm Harbor, FL; his grandchildren, Jennifer Laub of Springfield, IL, Matthew Waitkus of Tennessee, Kyle Thornsbrough of LaSalle, IL, Kory Thornsbrough of Washington, IL and Samantha Meeker of Clearwater FL; his seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Tom was later married to Ruth Franklin in Danville and they resided in Westville, IL. He has three step-daughters, Cindy (Arnie) Wake of Oregon, Nancy (Dewey) Howard of Westville, and Jeannie Franklin of Georgetown. Also surviving are their grandchildren, Chris Wake of New York, NY, Josh Howard of Westville, Lyndsey Magers of Paris, IL, Jake Magers of Oakwood; and three great grandchildren.

Tom and Ruth loved to dance and challenge each other to a game of gin rummy. He was an avid bowler for many years, as well as a loyal Cubs fan and enjoyed playing horseshoes. Tom and Ruth were always tinkering around the house and staying busy. We were blessed to have our Dad and husband with us for so many years. May you Rest in Peace.

A Celebration of Toms life will be held at 12:00pm, Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Westville, located at 414 S. State Street, with Pastor Mike Stipp officiating. Visitation will be 10:00am to 12:00pm Saturday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Gundy Cemetery, Bismarck.
