Thomas M. Sheahan Jr., 72, of Flossmoor Illinois, formerly of Danville, Illinois passed away on January 15, 2011 at Conroe Regional Medical Center in Houston. Thomas was born September 10, 1938 in Danville, the son of Thomas Sr. and Beverly West Sheahan. Survivors include three daughters Carol Jo (Larry) McGill of Homewood, IL, Jane (Jeff) Laurich of Katy TX, and Kay Musil of Houston, TX; brother William (Penny) Sheahan of Scottsdale, AZ; eight grandchildren: Karen, Valerie, Frank, Eric, McKenzie, Rylie, Jaedon, and Aimee; and a special friend Norma Tuttle formerly of Danville, IL. He was preceded in death by his son Robert, his parents and grandparents. Thomas graduated from Danville High School and was the Captain of the golf team. He enjoyed playing golf until he was stricken with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 51. While active, he had two holes in one, one on the number eight hole at the Danville Country Club and one on the number five hole at the Royal Palms Country Club. Always a competitor, he loved his bowling, golf, gin rummy and dominoes. Tom served in the U.S. Army for six years. After being honorably discharged from the military, he was part owner and President (from 1988 to 1994) of Interstate Lumber Company until retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Olive Branch lodge, the Danville Consistory and the Ansar Temple of Springfield. Thomas was active in the Shriners, and served one term as the President of the local club. One of his favorite activities was riding the Shriners 25 man bicycle in parades throughout the country. He was a member of the Danville Country Club and the Danville Elks Lodge 332. A Celebration of Thomass Life will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, January, 22, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center, a Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL with Pastor William Hummer officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Friday evening at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7:45 pm. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Danville. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
