Thomas W. "Pete" Stevens, 75, of Danville, passed away at 6:45pm, Friday, October 21, 2016, at Presence USMC, Danville. He was born on September 27, 1941, in Danville, IL, the son of Oscar and Opal {Eddy} Stevens, both deceased. He was married to Julia "Judy" Alice Wright on July 25, 1959, in Danville. Later he was wed to Sharon Martin in May of 1983 and then she preceded him in death in 2012. He was later remarried to his first love, Judy, on June 22, 2014. She will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his sons, Bill (Marge) Lewis in Arizona, Ronnie (Brenda) Martin of Danville, and Rich (Dorothy) McFarland of Tilton; his daughters, Teresa (Ed) Barteck of Danville, LaDonna "Sis" (Danny) Swider of Danville; & Connie (Kevin) Martin of Oakwood; his brother, Larry Stevens of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; his 24 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Vera & Tom Lappin. Pete had worked at McCormick Place in Chicago and several places in Chicago. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, United Church of Tilton, and enjoyed going to casinos, watching the loveable Cubs & Bears. He also enjoyed listening and dancing to live country music and old-time Rock & Roll bands. He always had the hope when going to the K of C on Saturday nights that he would win the drawing. Pete also loved cook-outs especially when Ed cooked. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of Pete's life will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at Sunset's Oakwood Chapel, 105 E. South Main St, Oakwood, IL 61858. Visitation will be held 12pm - 2pm Wednesday prior to his service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in his name to United Church of Tilton.
