Thomas J. McGough II, 61, of Springfield, IL passed away at 9:12am, Monday, August 11, 2008 at his residence. He was born May 31, 1947 in Omaha, NE, the son of Frank McGough and Dorothy (Pollard) McGough. He is survived by his step-mother Betty Derry-McGough of Omaha, NE, one brother Mike (Sharon) McGough of Hagerstown, MD, three sisters, Fran (Jack) Ward and Kay Ray both of Danville, IL & Peggy Kocal of San Diego, CA, one step-brother, Tom Derry of Omaha NE, three step-sisters, Dody Booth, and Genny (Ron) Herman, both of Omaha, NE, and Suzie (Mike) Lawler of Lincoln, NE. Tom is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dorothy McGough, an infant brother Jimmy McGough and one step-sister Patty Stanley. Tom graduated from Schlarman High School in 1965 and went on to receive his Bachelors Degree from Southern Illinois University. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War era. Tom was employed by the Illinois Unemployment Services in Springfield in Social Services. He previously worked for the Vermilion County Clerks office, the Chicago Unemployment office, and the Devries Institute. While living in Chicago, Tom enjoyed being actively involved in many different amateur theater group & organizations. Most of all Tom enjoyed being with his family & friends sharing a glass of Mogen David wine. A celebration of life for Thomas J. McGough II will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion, St., Danville, IL, with Father Greg Nelson officiating. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 " 8:00 pm on Friday, August 15, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Thomas name to the donors choice
