Thomas Edward Allen

Covington, Ind. -- Thomas Edward Allen, 62, of Covington, passed away at 7:49 p.m. CST Monday, January 12, 2009 at the V.A. Illiana Health Care System in Danville, Illinois. He was born July 14, 1946 in Covington, Indiana the son of the late Dale Edward and Helen Marie Rowe Allen. He married Marilyn Ping on March 3, 1972 in Covington, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include: one sister, Vicki(Jack)Conner of Covington, Indiana; two step brothers, Brian Swingle of Indianapolis, Indiana and Mark(Debbie)Swingle of Perrysville, Indiana; four nephews, Mike(Tracey)Conner of Little Elm, Texas; Philip Conner of Veedersburg, Indiana; Paul and Joe Conner both of Covington, Indiana; several great nieces and nephews. Thomas was a housekeeper at the V.A. Illiana Health Care System until his illness 1 1/2 years ago. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the United States Navy and was a member of the Covington V.F.W. Post #2395. Thomas enjoyed working on his yard, watching deer pass by his house and working on puzzle books. Graveside service and burial: 11 a.m. EST Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Hopewell Cemetery, Rileysburg, Indiana with graveside military rites by the Covington V.F.W. Post #2395; Officiating: Rev. Larry Stoops. There will be no visitation. Contributions may be made to the Danville Humane Society, 1225 North Collett Street, Danville, Illinois 61832.
