Thomas E. Norton

Danville Thomas E. Norton "Tom", 72, of Danville passed away at 2:33 PM on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville. He was born on August 30, 1950 in Danville to Clarence Leo Norton and Catherine (Cline) Norton. He shared his life with his partner of many years, Cathy J. Haley. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jason (Connie) Norton of East Peoria and Brad (Brandi) Norton of Fairmount; mother, Catherine Johnson; two grandsons, Blake and Brayden Norton; and two siblings, Larry (Gayle) Norton and Diane Spilker.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by an uncle, Robert Norton, and a special cousin, Dickie "Boom Boom" Jackson.

Tom was a true craftsman, who loved to build many projects from houses to live edge shelving. Tom was a retired Union Carpenter from the Local #269. He loved sports, especially the Illini and the Bears. Tom enjoyed fishing, especially the yearly Kentucky Lake Trips with his 2 sons, target shooting, driving his convertible corvette and restoration projects. Toms true love was the time he was able to spend with his sons and grandsons. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather (PawPaw) who never missed the sporting and school events for his grandsons, Blake and Brayden. Family always came first for Tom as he had a tremendous impact on all of our lives. He is and always will be loved by all.

A service to celebrate the life of Tom Norton will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL 61834. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Monday, February 20, also at Sunset in Danville.
