Thomas E. Burke, 84, of rural Fithian, died at 4:54pm, Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on April 1, 1933, in Oakwood, IL, the son of Thomas C. and Jennie {Hart} Burke. He was married to Carolyn Ann Pate on July 2, 1955, in Jefferson, IN. She survives. He is also survived by: his daughters, Joan Marie Krigbaum of Plano, TX, Melony Beth (Timothy) Puzey, of Jamaica, & Melissa Ann (Steve Hall) Paris of Catlin; his grandchildren, Charles (Joel Price) Krigbaum, Emily (Andy) Stuckey, Holly (Casey Mester) Paris, Nick Paris, Jin Zhang, & JinLong Zhang; and his great grandchild, Isabella Stuckey. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his two sisters; and one brother. Tom was a principal for Diamond Grade School for 28 years and was a member of Illinois Principals Association. He was a proud Veteran of the US Navy. Thomas was a member of Muncie Baptist Church and served as former Deacon. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge #1001, American Legion Post #210, and Lions Club. Tom was a hobby farmer of black angus cows. He worked for Habitat for Humanity in Danville and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Most of all, Tom loved his family and grandkids, as well as his Church family. The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Muncie Baptist Church, 205 Main Street, Muncie, IL, with Pastor Dave Garver officiating. Visitation will be 11:00am to 1:00pm Thursday prior to his Service at the Church. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park, Danville with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #210. Memorial donations may be given to American Heart Association or Muncie Baptist Church, Muncie, IL. Sunset's Oakwood Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
