Danville – Thomas J.R. Arlington, 71, of Danville passed away at 7:05 PM on Friday, November 21, 2014 at PUSMC in Danville. He was born on July 1, 1943 to Thomas and Lettie (Baker) Arlington. He married Margie Crabtree on June 12, 1970 in Hoopeston. She survives.
Also surviving are five children, Thomas Arlington, Erika Williams, David (Connie) Arlington, Kristian P. Arlington, and Christine M. Cortez; 13 grandkids, Justin, Kane, Meranda, Blake, Destiny, and Thomas James Arlington, Shylee Villa; Dylan, Nicholas and Taylor Williams; Jonah and Jacee Arlington, and Cierra Lockhart; six great-grandkids, Annabelle, Hunter, Lillianah, Hayden, Adrienne, and Dalton; and three brothers, Richard Arlington, Joe Thompson, and Pat Toth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Otis Williams, and a brother, Frank James Arlington.
Tom served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He went on to work for Hyster, Danville VA, Material and Fuel, and CERL in Champaign. Tom enjoyed old cars, John Wayne movies, fishing, listening to Elvis, but also liked to play practical jokes. He attended Second Church of Christ and loved his church family. Most of all, Tom loved to spend time with his family and grandkids, and wanted to be with them every day. He was happiest around them, especially at their family cookouts.
A service to celebrate the life of Tom Arlington will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Drew Mentzer will officiate. Burial will follow at Danville National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, November 25, and also from 12-1 PM prior to the service on Wednesday, all at Sunset in Danville. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Second Church of Christ or the Homeless Veterans.
