Perrysville, Ind. -- Thomas Alva Arrasmith, 86, of Perrysville, passed away at 9:15 a.m. EDT Monday (June 5, 2006) at the Waters of Covington in Covington, Indiana. He was born November 3, 1919, in Dana, Indiana, the son of the late Pearl S. and Minnie Kyger Arrasmith. He married Marietta M. Kemna on January 17, 1948, in Danville, Illinois. She survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Gary Arrasmith of Kingman, Indiana and Alan Arrasmith of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; two grandchildren, Melissa Thompson and Nathan Arrasmith; one sister, Charlotte Shaw of Covington, Indiana. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Arrasmith. Tom worked as a mail clerk at the Danville Post Office, retiring in 1978. He attended the Union Corner United Methodist Church in Danville, Illinois. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army during W.W. II and the Korean War. Tom was a member of the Perrysville American Legion Post # 350 and the Perrysville Masonic Lodge # 344 F& AM. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking, traveling and camping. Funeral services: 11 a.m. EDT Thursdy, June 8, 2006, at DeVerter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Officiating: Pastor Patti Wise; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana with Military graveside rites by the Perrysville American Legion Post # 350; Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. EDT Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at the funeral home with a Masonic Memorial Service by the Perrysville Masonic Lodge # 344 F&AM at 8 p.m. EDT. Family request contributions may be made to the Union Corner United Methodist Church, 14158 Perrysville Road, Danville, Illinois 61834. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
