GEORGETOWN- Thomas Arlen Grider 73 of Georgetown passed away at 12:12am on Tuesday, April 25, 2007 at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Mr. Grider was born on April 13, 1934 in Olivet, IL, the son of James Stanley and Vivian (Williams) Grider. Both of his parents precede him in death. On June 28, 1953, Tom married Julia Linne in Danville. She survives. Along with: their three children, Mike Grider of Georgetown, Steve Grider of Arlington, Texas, and Linda (Randal) Trosper of Georgetown; their six grandchildren, Michael Grider Westville, Brandy (Kevin) Ryan of Ridge Farm, Thomas (Lindsay) Trosper of Virginia Beach, VA, Heather (Aaron) Smith of Georgetown, Christopher Grider of Arlington, Texas, Jeffery Grider of Arlington, TX; their great-granddaughter, Kasadee Ryan; and his brother, James Grider of Globe, AZ. His brother, Ron Grider, precedes Tom in death. Tom was Georgetown High School Graduate, a Navy veteran and later employed with the Hyster Foundry in Danville as a Quality Control Supervisor, retiring in 1996. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and mushrooming. He cherished the time he spent with his family and great-granddaughter. He was a great husband, dad, grandfather, and friend and will be missed by all that knew him. A visitation for family and friends for Mr. Thomas Grider is scheduled from 3-8pm on Friday, April 27, 2007 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home located at 200 E. West St. in Georgetown. Per Toms wishes, he will be cremated following visitation and inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorial tributes may be made in Toms name to the American Diabetes Foundation.
