Tho Lam, 63, of Urbana, passed away at 4:35 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at his home. He was born August 14, 1950 in My Tho City, Vietnam, the son of Muc Tran and Tu Lam. He married Cindy Earle on June 3, 1978 in Paxton. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Tina (Cory) Rolfe of Champaign and Charles Lam of Champaign; 2 brothers, My (Jacqueline) Lam of Los Angeles CA., and Quang (Phuong) Lam of Miami, FL; one grandson, Carter Rolfe; 5 nieces, 7 nephews, 3 great nieces and 2 great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 4 brothers, Felix (Amy)Truong, Thanh (Nu)Lam, Thoi Lam, and Chi Lam. Tho worked for MTD for over 30 years, where he considered his co-workers as part of his family. He enjoyed cooking, and was well known for his delicious egg rolls. He was fondly referred to as the “Eggroll King” by all at MTD. He retired in 2010, however still returned periodically to provide eggrolls to his family at MTD. He was a member of the Savoy United Methodist Church. A celebration of the life of Tho Lam will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the Savoy United Methodist Church, 3002 W Old Church Road, Champaign, IL. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to services at the church. As per his wishes, cremation rites will follow services. Memorial donations may be made to the Savoy United Methodist Church, American Diabetes Association, or Hospice Hearts Sanctuary.
