Theresa Elizabeth Hmura

Theresa Elizabeth Hmura, 90 of Westville, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at 3:50 PM at Pleasant Meadows Senior Living in Chrisman. She was born October 13, 1926 in Danville the daughter of Dominic and Caroline {Vissia} Damilano. On November 22, 1947 she married Martin Hmura at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2002. Surviving are her nieces and nephews, Eric Damilano of Westville, Gretchen Damilano-Robbins of Urbana, Mark (Debbie) Damilano, Jr. of Alabama, Theresa Marie (Daniel) Lewis of Perrysville, IN, Annette (Jim) Barnes of Chicago, and Jeannie (Gary) Cox of California; great-nephews, Todd (Sherry) Damilano, Scott Damilano, and Mark (Angie) Damilano III; great-great nieces and nephews, Betsy Lewis, Trevor Damilano, Cole Damilano, and Cecilia Damilano; as well as many other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Nino and Mark Damilano. Theresa was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Westville as well as the Alter and Rosary Society. When she was younger Theresa worked at the Westville Five Cent Store for over 12 years. She liked to crochet and kept a spotless home. She was known for her cooking and baking. Theresa's Italian Cream Cake and Apple Pie were like no other. She was an all-around great cook preparing many recipes that her family brought over from Italy. The hand written recipes she passed down to her family will be cherished for many years to come. A celebration of Theresa's Life will be held Friday, March 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, 414 S. State Street, Westville. A rosary will be held at the beginning of the service. Fr. Timothy Sauppe will officiate. Theresa will be laid to rest at Resurrection Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
