Theodore 'Ted' E. Hendrix

Oakwood- Theodore "Ted" E. Hendrix, 69, of Oakwood passed away at 1:24 pm on Wednesday March 31, 2004 at his home in Oakwood. "Ted" was born on April 12, 1934 in Danville the son of Charlie and Flossie Hess Hendrix. He married Lucille Muzzey in Danville on September 29, 1953 and she preceded in death on January 14, 1986. He then married Pauline Coon on December 18, 1987 in Danville and she survives. Other survivors include: two sons: Ted Hendrix Jr. of Danville, Todd Hendrix of Phoenix, AZ, ten step-children, six grandchildren: Allison (Lee) Haynes, Keegan, Ted III, and Michael Hendrix all of Danville, as well as Arie and Cody Hendrix of Phoenix, AZ, twenty seven step-grandchildren, one great grandchild, eleven step-great grandchildren, four nephews and two nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, three brothers, and three sisters. Ted was a switchman for the Norfolk and Southern Railroad and retired in December of 1992. After his retirement he worked in the maintenance department of various places in Danville and Champaign. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Railroad Employees. In his younger days, he spent many hours building street rods. He loved to travel, and watch basketball and baseball games, especially the Chicago Bulls and the Cubs. He also enjoyed attending his monthly Saturday morning breakfasts with former railroad friends and lending a helping hand to friends and family.
