Thelma Y. Stewart, 74, passed away at 4:25 AM on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at her residence. Thelma was born on September 5, 1937 in Oakland, IL the daughter of Eugene and Mamie (Rankins) Tibbs. She married Kenneth Stewart on June 11, 1955. He preceded her in death in 1974. She then met Steve Parsons in 1976 and he has been her loving companion for over 30 years. She is survived by two sons- Ronald L. (Donna) Stewart of Ridgefarm and Keith A. (Maralee) Stewart of Bedford, IN, one sister- Bonnie Garrison of Springfield, IL, , one step-son- Scott (Janice) Parsons of Cottageville, SC, two step-daughters- Lynn (Harold) Neal of Catlin, IL, and Penny Shanks of Danville, IL, one sister-in-law- Wilma Tibbs of Georgetown, IL, three grandchildren- Miranda Stewart of Champaign, IL, R.J. Stewart of Ridgefarm and Kandace Stewart of Bedford, IN, seven step-grandchildren- Travis (Mandy) Cunningham of Oakwood, IL, Jessie (James) Hagley of State Line, IN, Steven (Laura) White of Purvis, MS, Todd Brewer of Cottageville, SC, Jennifer Brewer of Walterville, SC and Billy Pruitt and Tony Mincey, fourteen great grandchildren, two special aunts- Rena Stark and Mona Young and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one brother-Bill Tibbs. Thelma was a graduate of Paris High School. She was a member at Garland Methodist Church. She was a waitress at The Nook and George's Buffet. She was an Avon representative for many years. Thelma liked collecting angels, butterflies, flowers, playing cards, dancing and listening to karaoke. A Celebration of Thelma's Life will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 10:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville with Miles Clark officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
