The life of Thelma Elizabeth Millikan Walters will be celebrated by her family at New Life Worship Center Church in Cayuga, IN. She went to her home in heaven on February 18, 2026. Thelma was born on June 25, 1929, in Montezuma, Indiana, the daughter of Cecil Millikan and Nora Houghton Millikan. She married Ervin Taylor Walters (deceased in 2005) on November 21, 1948. She resided in Cayuga, Indiana around 78 years.
She had four daughters: Linda (Stan] Piatt of West Lebanon, Indiana; Vickie Richardson of Cayuga; Janet (Mark} DeFiori of Cypress, Texas; and Karen [deceased] son-in-law Jerry O'Neal of Covington, Indiana. She is also survived by two sisters Joan White of Cypress Springs, Florida and Nancy Cronin of Roanoke, Virginia; seven grandchildren; Mark and David Volkel, Kate and Kiel Richardson, Suzanne Walters, and Sarah and Kodi O'Neal; six great grandchildren, Brittney and Justin Volkel; Autumn and Drake Volkel; and Jakob and Jessica Crews; and many great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter Karen O’Neal; one brother Charles Millikan; three sisters Virginia Lewis, Geneva Stark, and Marie Hollman; one grandson Joshua O'Neal, and one great great grandson Quinton Volkel.
Thelma formerly worked in Danville, Illinois at the Glove Factory for three years and at General Electric for twenty-two years. She enjoyed cooking for her large family, sewing beautiful clothing for her children and extended family, doing arts and crafts, and canning food from her large vegetable garden each summer. Thelma gave her life to the Lord on January 26, 1974, when she was born again. Thelma was a member of New Song Worship Church in Cayuga, Indiana.
She was a Christian for many years and prayed for her family, friends and neighbors on a regular basis. Thelma loved being with her family and often spoke of Jesus to them.
A Celebration of Thelma’s Life will be held on Friday February 27, 2026, at New Song Worship Center, 4719 North Elm Street Cayuga, Indiana, at 11:30 am est. Pastor Brad Porter will officiate. Burial to follow at Silver Island Cemetery. Family will receive guests from 10:30 – 11:30 am est. at the church prior to the Celebration.
