Danville - Thelma "Lady" Taylor, 100, of Danville, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016, at her home in Rantoul. Thelma was born on February 26, 1915 in Waterbury, CT, the daughter of Lewis and Eva (Brown) Stemm. She married Dick Taylor November 23, 1937 in Oakville, CT. He precedes her in death. Thelma is survived by her daughter, Beverly Browne of Danville; brother, Jim (Bernadette) Stemm; grandchildren , Norma-Jean Duff , Carolyn (Tom) Barr , Mark Duff , Rachel (Mike) Johnson , Kelly (Mark Butler) Taylor, and Matthew (Carol) Taylor; great grand- children, Emily, Catherine, Tommy, MaryGrace, Bella, Chloe, Benjamin, and Owen; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick ; son Richard Taylor Jr., brothers, Edward, Louis, and Jack Stemm. Thelma was the secretary to the family business, Atlas Screw and Specialty, as well as the secretary for the Superintendent of Schools in Woodbury, CT. Thelma's family will remember her as a fun, energetic, and positive person. She was also a very prayerful person and a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Danville. Thelma enjoyed gardening, skiing, knitting and sewing. She also enjoyed a good game of Bridge with family or friends. Thelma was a very good golfer. She loved going to the symphony when she had the chance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at St. Paul's Catholic Church, 1303 N. Walnut Street, Danville. Fr. Greg Nelson will officiate. Per her wishes she will be cremated following the service and laid to rest in Waterbury, CT in the spring. Visitation will be held prior to the mass from 10:00- 11:30 AM at the church. Memorials may be made in her name to St. Paul's Catholic Church.
