Thelma Mckinley

Thelma McKinley, 97, of Danville passed away on June 6, 2017 at Gardenview Manor in Danville, IL. Thelma was born June 17, 1919 in Danville, IL to Jacob and Elizabeth Mertz, the precede her in death. She married Floyd McKinley on March 12, 1947, he precedes her in death. Thelma was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was known as a caring person. Some of her hobbies include reading, collecting dolls, and finding bargains at garage sales. Surviving Thelma are her brothers, Ted Mertz and Leonard (Charm) Mertz; sisters, Betty Powell and Irene Morgan; grandchildren, Sarah Taylor and Julie Zabelka; great grandchildren, Ashley Borden, Austin Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Nathaniel Zabelka and Violet Jones. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Thelma is preceded in death by her two daughters, Florence Rossiter and Ruth (Roy) Land; brothers, Bob Truman, Ivan Mertz, Bill Mertz, Melvin Mertz, and Elmer Mertz; and sister, Beth Rasmussen. She is also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Leeanne Rossiter and Edwin Rossiter. A celebration of Thelma's life will be held on Monday June 12, 2017 at 2pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermillion, Danville, IL 61834. Visitation will be help prior from 1-2pm. Burial will be at Johnson Cemetery in Danville, IL.
