Thelma Louise Crawford, 98, of Danville, passed away at 9:55 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center in Danville. She was born on January 19, 1908 in Danville, Illinois, the daughter of John and Esther (Eaglan) Fertig. She married Marshall Crawford on July 18, 1925 in Danville. He preceded her in death on November 12, 1973. She is survived by her one son- Marshall Jean Crawford of London, England; 12 grandchildren; several great- grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and her caretakers. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons- Jerry Crawford, John Jack Crawford, Fred Hal Crawford; one daughter- Elizabeth Bunting and one grandson- Johnny Crawford. Thelma graduated from Danville High School in 1925. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Vermilion Heights Methodist Church and was involved in many church groups. Thelma enjoyed cooking, making quilts, and knitting. She also enjoyed fishing in the lakes of Minnesota and reading. She especially enjoyed reading the Bible, daily devotions, and many other books from the Danville Public Library. She loved reminiscing and telling stories. Thelma and her life were an inspiration to all who knew her. A celebration of the life of Thelma Louise Crawford will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday March 22, 2006 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville with Rev. John Prather officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to the Danville Public Library-Outreach Program.
