Thelma Johnson

Thelma Mae Johnson, of Danville, passed away Oct. 23, 2013. Born to Jeff and Effie Mae Martin, she was the fourth of 11 children and grew up in State Line, Ind. She married Herman Johnson in 1946 and their 50 years together brought two children: Stephen Johnson of Danville and Nancy Johnson Rust of Woodlawn Park, Colo. She also is survived by two grandsons, Jonathan and Jared Brooks; three great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Carl Rust; as well as three sisters and two brothers. Thelma was preceded in death by her husband and five sisters. She stubbornly fought multiple sclerosis for most of her adult life by working hard and never giving in. She worked at General Electric and Chuckles Candy. Everyone will remember Thelma as a fabulous cook, and it was a great disappointment to her when she could no longer cook. The family is extremely grateful to the staff at Deer Creek Manor for the loving care they provided for Thelma in her last few years. No formal service will be held at Thelmas request, but family and close friends are welcome to join us for a graveside ceremony at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct 29. Rest in peace Mom no more pain and suffering.
