Thelma 'Grandma' Etchison

Thelma "Grandma" Etchison, 102, of Danville, IL passed away on January 1, 2018 at North Logan Healthcare in Danville. She was born on March 21, 1915 in Danville the daughter of Robert and Mary Ellen Brewington. Thelma married William Russell Etchison on January 7,1945. He preceded her in death in 1975. Thelma will be deeply missed by her children; Joyce (Marshall) Cox of Danville, IL, Bill (Mary) Etchison of Bradenton, FL and Mary (Don) Cox of Danville, IL, 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 26 great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sons, 6 siblings, 2 granddaughters, 3 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Thelma was a Danville High graduate. She worked for FW Woolworth Dime Store which she missed dearly. She also worked at Eisner grocery and Sarge's Tap for years. In her spare time, you could find her watching the Bears or Cubs play, latch hooking, playing Bingo or at Bible Study. She was a life-time member of Faith Church of Christ and devoted most of her time to her grandchildren whom she loved very much. A visitation for Thelma will be on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 4-5 PM at Faith Church of Christ 3601 Quaker Road Danville, IL 61832. A celebration of life will follow at 5 PM at the church with Bill Carpenter officiating. Cremation rites and burial will be held at a later date.
