Thelma Delores Bomgardner

Thelma Delores Bomgardner, 83, of Georgetown, went on to her Heavenly home at 10:10pm, Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Hawthorne Inn, Danville. She was born on November 22, 1932, in Auburn Township, IL, the daughter of Leonard and Esther {Pittenger} Smitley. When she was very young, her mother, Esther, passed away. Leonard later married Nancy {Claypool} Smitley who lovingly raised Thelma. She was united in marriage to Arble Leo Bomgardner on November 25, 1965, until his passing in 2008. She will be dearly missed by: her children, Jeanette (Rusty) Noggle of Georgetown, Barbara (David) Smith of Georgetown, Linda (Steve) Archibald of Ocala, FL, Tom (Louise) Bomgardner of Owensboro, KY, & Pat (Laura) Bomgardner of Davenport, IA,; her brother, Russell (Mary Lou) Smitley of Paris; her grandchildren, Marissa Smith, Kelton Smith, Jessica (Mike) Gragert, Becky (Shawn) Rutan, Leslie (BJ) Krause, Monica Hall, Amanda Peavy, James Archibald, Tricia Archibald, Jeremy & Kenneth; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents; her son, Clyde Bomgardner; and her brother, Rex Smitley. Thelma worked at Western Union, Chicago Plastics of Georgetown until its' closing and at R&S Printing in Danville. She was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club. She enjoyed ceramics, reading, sewing, gardening & canning. She also enjoyed doing word searches. She and her husband enjoyed going camping with family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who loved her. A celebration of Thelma's life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, March 24, 2016, at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 4:00pm - 7:00pm, Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery, Georgetown. Memorial donations may be given in Thelma's name to donor's choice of charity.
