Thelma Beck, 94, of Danville passed away on June 3, 2015 at Hawthorne Inn Nursing Home in Danville. She was born on October 14, 1920 in Danville, IL, the daughter of John and Mabel (Starr) Elliott. She married Robert Beck Jr. on May 18, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1997. Thelma was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, she worked alongside her husband Bob on the family farm. She loved farm life and all that it entailed, especially fixing homemade meals to take to the field. Their home was known in town as the place with the cows. She hosted many holiday meals and family dinners where guests were treated to her famous fresh noodles and signature rolls, dill pickles, ginger cookies, hard candy and cinnamon rolls. Another well-known treat of Thelma's were her popcorn balls, which she only made for Halloween. Her kitchen table was the gathering place for not only family, but friends, neighbors and all kinds of acquaintances. One could not leave the Beck home without having had something to eat - usually just made that day, possibly chocolate chip cookies or a piece of cherry pie made with cherries from her tree. In her retirement years, she and her husband enjoyed spending many winters at their home in Mesa, Arizona. Thelma was a member of the Henning Church of Christ and the Women's Club. In her later years, she enjoyed attending Old Union and Crossroads. She will be deeply missed by her children; Elliot (Rene) Beck of Danville, Joy (Dudley) Severs of Potomac and Robin (Kevin) Carlton of Gwynneville, IN, grandchildren; Bryan, Missy, Becky, Bobby, Dana, Tyler, Josh, Shere, great grandchildren; Michael, Nicholas, Jaynie, Jessica, Guinevere, Kolt, McKinley, Rylen, Kariana, Cadence and great- great grandchildren: Mason and Ayden.
