Terry 'Popsie' Thomas

Danville- Terry D. (Popsie) Thomas, 63, of Danville, IL left this life unexpectedly at 3:57 pm on July 8th 2016. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Terry was born on March 21, 1953 to Donald and Beulah (Fuller) Thomas in Danville, IL. He married Karen Alpers on June 22, 1974 in Danville, IL and she survives. Other survivors include two sons: Troy Thomas and Todd Thomas both of Danville, IL, one daughter: Kimberly (Shawn) Pasley of Danville, IL, four grandchildren; Addisyn, Anderson and Annistyn Thomas and Taylar Pasley all of Danville, IL, one brother: Richard (Burma) Thomas of Danville, IL, as well as all of the family dogs he loved to care for so very much. Terry was preceded in death by his parents. Terry worked as a Conductor for Conrail and later CSX Railroad for 39 years until his retirement in July 2013 solely to be home with his family. He enjoyed riding his Harley, watching Illini basketball, NASCAR and anything Louisville Cardinals. He also enjoyed watching Peyton Manning and reminded his grandson Anderson who he should emulate, Tom Brady wasn't allowed to be said around "Popsie". He coached Little League when his boys were young and referenced kids and families throughout those years from his days involved at the American Legion. He also enjoyed making his daily visits to his children's pets where he would take each and every one of them on their very own walk. But most of all, Terry loved spending time with his wife and attending anything that his grandchildren were involved in. He was cherished and loved by his family and will be missed greatly. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday July 14, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville. Officiating will be John Neal. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Danville. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday July 13, 2016 at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made in Terry's memory to American Legion Post 210 Baseball in Danville, IL or New Horizon Breast Cancer Support Group in Danville, IL.
