Terry Lee Manning, 79, of Georgetown, Illinois, passed away on June 22, 2026, at 6:20 am. He was born on January 28, 1947, in Crawfordsville, IN, and was the beloved son of Wilson Hart Manning and Wilma Glendora Ostrom Manning. He lived a life marked by honesty, integrity, loyalty and friendship. He is survived by the love of his life Betty A. Manning who he referred to as (Bets), his daughters Lisa A. Coburn, (Kyle) and Shelly K. Hughes, (Chad), his grandchildren Courtney C. Amos, (Jake), Kyle W. Coburn, (Anna), Schuyler M. Hughes, (Ashley), Cade M. Hughes and Easton C. Hughes, as well as three great grandchildren Carson W. Amos, Colton R. Amos and Bailey A. Hughes and many family members and friends who he held dear. He was preceded in death by his parents and a stillborn brother.
Terry proudly served his country from 1967 to 1973 as a Marine Reservist. During his service he began a career with the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 293 of Danville, Il which later became Local 157 after they merged. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed lasting friendships with many of his coworkers. Terry took to heart advice passed to him from his dad which was “find a job that you love, and you will never work a day in your life”. He did just that. He filled his days with laughter and shared his work memories with clarity and enthusiasm with anyone who would listen.
In his free time, Terry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, he adored watching his grandchildren play sports and he also maintained a special relationship with his graduating class of 1965 through lunch meetings, class reunions and a text thread. His favorite hobby has been building, trading and driving hot rod cars since he was in jr high school. His love for cars began when he fixed up an old car with his dad. He and Betty loved horses and enjoyed competing in horse shows for several years. After retirement they traveled with the local Corvette club and went to many car shows. He also cherished early morning breakfasts with his buddies including his lifelong best friend, Danny Lacey. Those who knew Terry well will remember his Distinctive personality, his honesty and his sincere way of expressing himself. His presence, stories, humor and love for those around him will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
